Rules of the CU Poetry Slam:
Judges will be chosen randomly from the audience at 7:45pm
Each poem must be an original piece written by the performing poet
Each poet will have three minutes (plus a ten-second grace period) to read one poem. If the poet goes over this time limit, points will be deducted from the total score. To indicate time, there will be a staff member to raise hand as an indication that there are 30 seconds left.
The poet may not use props, costumes, or musical instruments
Of the scores the poet receives from the judges, the high and low scores will be dropped, and the remaining scores will be added to create their final score for that round.
There will be 3 rounds. Each will eliminate poets from the previous round. The winning poet will be given a "victory lap" in which they will present their final poem. Therefore, each poet should be prepared to perform 4 poems in the instance that they win the Slam.
